Finally, I found my password to this blog page. I wanted to write about a really great show we saw last weekend in Atlanta at the Tabernacle. We brought the whole gang along with us, that is Mr. Fenris and Miss Lulu, for the 5 hour drive to Atlanta to see the Blackest of the Black Tour featuring Danzig, Dimmu Borgir, Moonspell, Winds of Plague and Skeletonwitch. Traveling with a pack has its perks but also slows you down. Tabernacle security is very strict, no cellphones, no cameras, no buckles and/or belts so obviously no four legged friends were allowed. We dropped Mr. F and Miss L. at the hotel and headed for the show. I regret missing Skeletonwitch and Winds of Plague since we arrived at the club just a little too late. However, we caught a really cool band from Portugal called Moonspell. First time, I've seen them live and they played a good set. Their sound is gothic, with elements of black metal. Check out their page. Next up, hailing from Norway, we saw Dimmu Borgir, who put on an impressive set. I love their sound and stage presence was awesome. I've seen their videos in the past so seeing them perform live was a real treat. And the grand finale was the legendary Danzig with a powerful lineup, including Johnny Kelly from Type O Negative on drums (who owns a Dodge SuperBee - check out his car here.) Seeing Danzig in the year 2008 A.D. LIVE is truly special and I hope he keeps touring. He still has the most distinctive vocals in all of metal and his music is always heavy without trying to be. This weekend we took advantage of the cheap gas and went cruising in Sweetbird, blasting old Samhain, Misfits, Danzig, Dimmu Borgir which makes our black 69 Road Runner one of the blackest of the black cars on the road!
BTW we got a very cool autographed drum head from Dimmu Borgir... photo to be posted soon. We were lucky again to go backstage and meet everyone. We gave our latest discharge printed t-shirt titled DEVILRAT!Special thank you to Johnny, Yvette and Gerardo.
